Traits and Preferences Research Project

Study Type, Purpose, and Goal

Exploratory quantitative survey research to assist with design and strategy.

Goal: Develop a short and reliable inventory of questions that yield the most relevant information about preferences based on personality types and perspectives.

Project Steps

Literature Review: Conduct literature review on personality, driving styles, behaviors, and aesthetic preferences

Protocol Development: Select questionnaires and create aesthetic preference images for testing

Data Collection:  Online survey

Data Mining: Analyze data for key results and patterns.

Report: Deliver report summarizing the project and delivering product improvement guidance to stakeholder team (planned)

Key Results

  • Identified differences between U.S., Germany, and Japan for personality, driving style, driving behaviors, tech propensity, aesthetic preferences, and interaction preferences. 

  • Identified key variables to differentiate personalization types with unique preferences.

  • Identified key questionnaire items that relate to UX preferences.
